David Lloyd was born and raised in South Africa where he started painting at the age of ten. David established himself in South Africa as the yougest exhibiting artist with the Natal Society of Art in Durban with his first one man exhibition of oil paintings at age 13. David first used an airbrush at age 17 painting customized graphics on surfboards. David emigrated to Canada in 1979 at age 18 to escape the mandatory military draft in South Africa.
